It is about 20 km long and 2.5 km wide. The area includes dunes, beaches, forests and some smaller nature reserves. Unique are the heath fields, which you will find almost nowhere else in the dunes. In some places nature itself is allowed to grow and develop, new dunes and pits are spontaneously created.
