Bergen Aan is Zee much more than just beach and sea. The coastal village is surrounded by beautiful scenery where you can spend hours hiking, biking, horse riding and enjoying unique flora and fauna. To the south surrounded by the Noordhollands Duinreservaat, which is managed by the province and where our clean drinking water comes from. North of Bergen aan Zee you will find the Schoorlse Duinen. In both areas there are countless hiking and biking trails for endless fun.

Noordhollands Duinreservaat

The Noordhollands Duinreservaat with 5300 hectares is one of the largest nature reserves in our country. The area stretches from Schoorlse Duinen to Wijk Aan Zee. It is about 20 km long and 2.5 km wide. The area includes dunes, beaches, forests and some smaller nature reserves. Due to the wide and varied vegetation, there is a variety of plant and animal species. The area is also easily accessible for visitors with walking difficulties or with an electric wheelchair. These and also electric bicycles are therefore permitted.

Schoorlse Duinen

The Schoorlse Duinen is the widest dune area in the Netherlands and a paradise for nature lovers. Open dunes are interspersed with dense forests and lakes. Unique are the heath fields, which you will find almost nowhere else in the dunes. In some places nature itself is allowed to grow and develop, new dunes and pits are spontaneously created.

Peace, space and beautiful places

The dunes and forests around Bergen Aan Zee have a very varied landscape and the areas in the north and south have their own character. You will find plenty of opportunities for hiking and cycling all year round. Here you have space and peace without borders. But also beautiful places for a picnic or for sports and games. And who pays attention will discover a variety of large and small mammals, reptiles and birds.
