You will find plenty of cycle paths around Bergen aan Zee. In the Noordhollands Duinreservaat as well as in the Schoorlse Duinen you can make endless trips at any time of the year. The trails have good signage, are in excellent condition and lead through open dunes or dense forests. In addition to bicycles, only e-bikes are allowed in the dunes.
Access to the northern nature reserve Schoorlse Duinen is free. For the southern Noordhollands Duinreservaat you need a dune access card. There are day, week or year tickets available at various points of sale. You can buy a day ticket at the ticket machines at the entrance to the reserve or by smartphone. Most accommodations in Bergen Aan Zee include an admission card with your stay.
Riding a bicycle offers you a large area of activity. Bergen Aan Zee is therefore an ideal starting point for a longer bicycle tour, for example to the polder areas, the cheese town Alkmaar or the old "Westfriese Omringdijk". There are several signposted cycling routes such as the "Brede Duinen Route", which was selected a few years ago as the most beautiful cycling route in the Netherlands.
For the sporty cyclist, the mountain bike route around Schoorl is a must. The challenging route with great difference in altitude can be reached from Bergen Aan Zee in 20 minutes.
